Yorkshire Toad in the Hole

*Tried and Tested*

Not sure about this one.  I think it would be alright as a breakfast dish with eggs...but I'd be tempted to chuck some cooked onion, tomato, mushrooms etc in as well cos' it kinda needed 'something'.  Don't get me wrong it wasn't gross, it tasted like a dagwood dog actually, but it just was heavy and kinda boring.  The kids liked it but didn't 'love' it.

Regretably I would have to put this in the 'failure' section...not because it's wrong...it's just ....I don't know...not something we'd have again.  If we did it would probably be a variation of it for breaky like I said above.

Never mind...we try these things and we find out what we like and dislike which is the whole point of trying new things.
Serves: 4
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1kg sausages
  • 1 1/3 cups plain flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1cup milk
  • breadcrumbs
  • salt and pepper to taste

Sift the flour and salt together and make a well in the centre.  Add one egg at a time and mix well.  Pour in 1/2 the milk and whisk briskly to combine until all the milk has been added and a nice batter has been formed.  Cut the sausages into desired bite size pieces and arrange on the bottom of a greased casserole dish.  Pour over the batter.  Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top and bake at 180 degrees for 45 minutes or until nice and golden.  Serve with gravy and seasonal vegetables.
