Open Cheeseburgers

Wow this was really fun to make actually...and the kids really loved eating it.  It's great for a quickie meal as it doesnt' take much preparation.  Great with Salad.  The only issue we had was that the bottom of the bread went a bit hard so it was hard to eat...but the kids were quite happy to hack at it, I ended up just slicing the hard crust off sideways...then I had no problems at all. 

  • 500g lean beef mince
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup (85g) tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup (45g) chopped onion
  • 3 tablespoons (60ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 cup (30g) crushed cornflakes
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) evaporated milk
  • 1 (450g) loaf unsliced Italian bread, cut in half lengthwise
  • 6 cheese slices
Preparation method
Prep: 15 minutes | Cook: 35 minutes
